Dr. Kinjal Madhav, board certified in both Family Medicine and Sleep Medicine, brings an extraordinary blend of scientific rigor and human connection to her work as a Principal Investigator (PI) with Profound Research. Based in Southern California, Dr. Madhav is a key member of the Neurology Center of Southern California, where she leads innovative clinical trials focused on sleep-disordered breathing and hypersomnolence disorders.
Her journey into clinical research began during her medical training at the SWIM Center for Cancer Care, where she participated in Phase 2 and 3 trials. This early exposure shaped her commitment to research as a pathway not only to scientific discovery, but also to meaningful service.
“Clinical research allows me to blend scientific inquiry with meaningful service,” she explains. “For me, this work is deeply personal—a way to give back through science.”
Dr. Madhav’s research interests have evolved over the years, with a primary focus on conditions that are often underdiagnosed yet deeply impactful to daily life. Sleep-disordered breathing and hypersomnolence disorders represent areas where scientific innovation has the potential to dramatically enhance quality of life, and her work is at the forefront of that transformation.
“As a Principal Investigator, I have the opportunity to lead dedicated teams in uncovering data that may lead to better treatments,” she says. “I’m inspired by the collaborative nature of clinical research—mentoring others, working across disciplines, and constantly expanding the boundaries of what we understand.”
That spirit of collaboration is one of the many reasons Dr. Madhav chose to partner with Profound Research.
“Partnering with Profound Research has broadened my reach, connecting me to a dynamic, multidisciplinary network of clinical trials,” she notes. “I’m driven by the potential to transform unanswered clinical questions into evidence-based solutions that truly make a difference.”
Profound Research’s mission—to improve lives by providing advanced therapeutic options—aligns seamlessly with Dr. Madhav’s values and approach. Through each study she leads, she contributes to that mission not only through data generation but also through the impact she has on patients, caregivers, and the broader medical community.
Our core values at Profound—Compassion, Urgency, Solution Orientation, and Excellence—are not just principles we strive to uphold; they are qualities exemplified by investigators like Dr. Madhav. Her ability to operate with both empathy and efficiency ensures that patients are seen, heard, and respected throughout the research process. Her determination to find answers fuels progress. Her excellence in execution leads to meaningful results.
Beyond her clinical and research responsibilities, Dr. Madhav lives a rich and vibrant life outside of medicine. She enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, choreographing dance routines, and embracing the serenity of a beach day. Most of all, she treasures time with her family—an anchor that fuels her passion and purpose.
At Profound Research, we are honored to collaborate with physician leaders like Dr. Madhav, who embody the best of what clinical research can be. Her dedication, insight, and humanity are helping to shape the future of neurological care—one patient, one trial, and one discovery at a time.
